statistiXL 1.3 Released

statistiXL1.3 is now available for immediate download. This latest release includes a number of new features and a couple of bug fixes. Version 1.3 is a free upgrade for all users of statistiXL.

New Features

Fisher's Exact Test added: A Fisher's Exact Test of 2 x 2 contingency tables is now automatically performed as part of all 2 x 2 contingency analyses where the total number of samples is <=1000. This is the preferred test (i.e. over Chi Square) when cell frequencies are small. This procedure gives the exact P value calculated from all possible combinations of cell frequencies.<br>
Excel 2003 Support: During an installation of statistiXL you have the option to automatically load statistiXL whenever Excel is opened.  Prior to version 1.3 of statistiXL, versions of Excel from Excel 97 to 2002/XP were supported. statistiXL 1.3 introduces similar support for Excel 2003.

Mann-Whitney Sample Size increase: statistiXL 1.3 now supports much larger sample sizes for Mann-Whitney test than previous versions.

Bug Fixes

Hierarchical Clustering: : Dendrograms of analyses we not produced when negative values were included in the dendrogram. This has been corrected in version 1.3.

Regression Analysis: An error in Versions 1.1 and 1.2 of statistiXL caused the probabilities of the individual regression coefficients to be incorrectly calculated when the slope of the regression was not forced through the origin. The overall ANOVA of the regression was not affected by this problem, neither were the test statistics of the individual regression coefficients themselves. The probabilities of these coefficients however were incorrectly calculated by 1 DF. As such, the margin of error will have been small in all analyses with more than a few data points in the regression. This issue has been corrected in Version 1.3.
